Mobatta Crepes To-Go
Delicious Mobatta Crepes

Our Story

When traveling through Europe, I happened upon a crepe restaurant built into a cliff at the gates of Le Mont Saint-Michel. It was early on a warm fall morning and the doors to the kitchen were open to the street. The crepe chefs were prepping for the day using the whisks and bowls as musical instruments while singing rhythmic hymns. They were not just making crepe batte, they were entertaining passerbyers with a theatrical performance. It wasn't just batter, it was the "batta"! Wanting to share this experience with the world, we have taken the "batta" from the "Mo"nt Saint-Michel and created a brand called Mobatta, where everyone can experience the art and theater of crepe-making every day.

While in college, we were finalists in both the University of Washington and Seattle University Business plan competitions. During the creation of Mobatta's Business plan, we were fortunate to work with local industry greats, including Arthur Rubinfeld of Airvision Consulting and Starbucks fame, James Schmidt, founder and CEO of Taco Del Mar, Jeff Levy, founder of Entrepreneur Source, and many others. Through their coaching we created the formula for the ideal food brand and the next generation in fast casual restaurants.

Our first location opened in the spring of 2008 at the Westlake Center Shopping Mall (Westlake Center is considered the town square of Seattle). Even with the challenges of opening a new business in an economic recession we were able to expand Mobatta into two additional business units. Our first was a mobile cart/kiosk model, with our first Cart across from Nordstrom's Seattle Flagship Store at 5th and Pine. Our second creation was Mobatta's catering and festival arm, where we have succeeded in preparing over 1000 customized/made-to-order crepes in a single day.

Mobatta is a closely-held, private company financed primarily through sales from operations. Our mission: to establish Mobatta as the premier crepe brand in the fast-casual breakfast category, building personal relationships in communities as we grow. To succeed, we will be looking for strategic partners/investors who have experience building world class companies and who will passionately share our vision of transforming the way customers experience breakfast and the Mobatta brand.
